Health officials are investigating a cyclosporiasis outbreak affecting multiple US states. Taco Bell is removing lettuce from a supplier linked to these illnesses. The parasitic intestinal illness has caused many hospitalizations across five states. Traceback efforts point to a shared Mexican iceberg lettuce supplier. Taylor Farms, a California-based company, is reportedly involved in the ongoing investigation.

Michigan, which is where much of the outbreak is centered, has reported over 4,300 cases of cyclosporiasis, which can cause diarrhea and a low grade fever.

Nearly 7,000 cases nationwide are confirmed or under investigation, according to the CDC. Michigan has accounted for the bulk of cases so far.
