Leavitt asked why Trump can’t let go of 2020 election he lost fair and square

Karoline Leavitt was questioned on why Donald Trump is unable to “let go” of the 2020 election. Ahead of the US president’s address on election security on Thursday (16 July), the White House press secretary returned to the Oval Office for her first press conference since her maternity leave. Asked by a reporter why Mr Trump is so fixated on the election he lost to Joe Biden, Ms Leavitt said it is because “the media has refused to acknowledge that tens of millions of Americans share his concerns about the sanctity of our elections”. Ms Leavitt said Americans will be “relieved” by the contents of Mr Trump’s speech, which he had previously touted as a “very big announcement”. There is no evidence of any widespread voter fraud in US elections.
