A stampede-like situation broke out on Puri's Grand Road (Bada Danda) during the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra on Thursday as lakhs of devotees gathered to witness the chariot procession, leaving around 120 people hospitalised with breathing difficulties, according to media reports. One devotee has also reportedly died, though authorities were yet to officially confirm the casualty.
