BMW M CEO Frank van Meel says the electric M3 will borrow the name from its ICE counterpart when it arrives in 2027. The next-gen gas car follows in 2028.

The current M3 is expected to stick around until mid-2027, but BMW is already hard at work preparing its replacement, which isn't expected to arrive until 2028.
