A routine aircraft test flight from Liverpool turned into an unusually literal expression of workplace boredom when a young flying instructor used the path of a Piper Tomahawk to spell out “I’m bored” across the sky, leaving a message that was invisible as handwriting from the ground but unmistakable to aviation enthusiasts watching the aircraft’s route on a flight-tracking map. The light aircraft had been sent up for roughly two hours after a component was replaced, but somewhere above the Dee Estuary and the wider England-Wales border region, the pilot transformed part of the maintenance flight into a sequence of loops and turns that formed three words across the digital map.

Pilot took off from Liverpool and spent 20 minutes tracing out the phrase in tight loops at height of over 300 metres

The single-engined Piper Tomahawk was seen on the popular flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 tracing out the words.
