He was approached on Telegram and offered money for "various photography tasks" by individuals identified with Iran, leading to his conviction for contact with a foreign agent and delivering information liable to benefit the enemy. The court took into account that the footage did not contain any information regarding military bases and that the soldier eventually reported his contact with the Iranian handler to his commanders. In addition to the five-year prison term, the unnamed soldier received a suspended sentence, a fine of NIS 1,000, and was demoted to the rank of private.
