Ather Energy secured Rs 1,200 crore from investors including Hero MotoCorp. Hero MotoCorp will increase its stake to 30.68 percent after this funding. India-Japan Fund also invested nearly Rs 200 crore in the company. Promoters Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain will also receive warrants for Rs 20 crore each.

The company said the capital could be raised through permissible modes, including a preferential issue or any other method allowed under applicable laws.

Ather Energy's board will deliberate on raising fresh capital through equity shares or convertible securities during its meeting scheduled for July 15.
