BBC presenter says he doesn’t own a TV and won’t watch the news

He and his wife, Catherine, prefer to watch programmes on a laptop from bed, as he believes TVs "suck the energy out of a room". Despite his career in news, Myrie said he does not watch the news himself, opting instead for news documentaries and radio current affairs shows. Myrie has had a 37-year career at the BBC, known for presenting BBC News at Six and BBC News at Ten, as well as the quiz show Mastermind. He is not alone among BBC personalities in this preference, with Claudia Winkleman and Paloma Faith also having previously said they do not own televisions.
