San Francisco boat tragedy: One dead, two missing after vessel sinks near Alcatraz

One person died and two others were reported missing after a three-deck pontoon boat carrying 19 people caught fire and capsized near Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay on Tuesday (July 14), prompting a large search-and-rescue operation. San Francisco Fire Department Chief Dean Crispen said authorities received reports of a vessel on fire about 600 yards off Alcatraz. When police marine units arrived, they found the boat overturned and a severely injured victim. The person was transported to shore after CPR was initiated but was later pronounced dead.
