Andy Burnham finally opened his beak in the Commons, his first parliamentary contribution since April 2017.

The former Greater Manchester mayor has not uttered a single word in the Commons chamber since he was formally sworn in as the new Makerfield MP on June 22.

In his first speech in the Commons since his return to Westminster, Mr Burnham thanked his 'friend' Keir Starmer for his work on the Hillsborough Law.
