Demand for cardiologists in U.S. projected to outpace supply; adequacy may decline

The demand for cardiologists will outpace supply by 2037, reducing the adequacy of the U.S. cardiology workforce, especially in the Western U.S. and nonmetropolitan areas, according to data projections. The adequacy of the U.S. cardiologist workforce is projected to decrease from 92.2% in 2025 to 81.4% by 2037, researchers wrote in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
