The United States launched a third night of strikes on Iran on July 14 as President Donald Trump reimposed a blockade on Iranian ports and floated a 20 percent fee on cargo in the vital Strait of Hormuz.

The sustained escalation in fighting comes nearly a month after the two sides inked a draft peace deal that prolonged a ceasefire and began 60 days of negotiations.

US attacks come after Iran said it fired warning shot that struck a vessel travelling on an unapproved route through Hormuz.
