Lorry driver asleep at wheel swerves across busy motorway

A lorry driver who fell asleep behind the wheel was intercepted by police after he started drifting across the motorway. Footage shared by South Yorkshire Police on Sunday (12 July) shows an unmarked HGV swerving between lanes on the M18, as a patrol car follows closely beind. Pulling up alongside the truck, officers noticed the driver was asleep, and beeped at him to wake up. Inside the vehicle, officers found multiple cans of energy drinks which he had been using to “overcome his tiredness”. The driver, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, as been “processed for the offences”, the force said.
