Workers building a highway in Italy uncovered a 2,500-year-old temple hidden since before Rome ruled the region

A stretch of highway construction in northern Italy has opened a window into a forgotten chapter of the region’s ancient past. Workers extending the Padana Inferiore State Highway 10 near Ponso, in the province of Padua, uncovered stone fragments that led archaeologists to a buried sanctuary dating back to the period before Roman control reached the area.
