Assam is a transit route for illegal drugs originating from Myanmar. The state has destroyed drugs worth Rs 473 crore recently. Police found drug peddlers use women and children to carry heroin. There is political consensus for strict action against drug cartels. Border points and technology will intensify the fight against drug trafficking.
