The victim, 45-year-old Anthony Littler, was ambushed and bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat-type weapon as he walked home from East Finchley Tube station. The breakthrough in the cold case came 29 years after the murder when the brothers' younger sibling reported them, leading to a reopened investigation in 2022 using covert techniques.
