Rory McIlroy made a fine start to the Scottish Open after a five-under-par 65 on Thursday gave him a share of the first-round lead.

Rory McIlroy said on Wednesday he hopes staying at "home" will stand him in good stead for the upcoming Scottish Open and next week's British Open.

McIlroy, Tom Kim, Bernd Wiesberger and Patrick Cantlay set the early pace with rounds of 65.
