Tamil Nadu ration cardholders to get better-quality, attractive dhotis, sarees for Pongal 2027

Tamil Nadu will distribute attractive and comfortable dhotis and sarees to nearly 2.23 crore ration cardholders. These garments will feature new golden, silver, or copper colored polyester zari borders. Sarees will also be available in brighter greens and other colors, offering enhanced comfort. The government has allocated ₹642.88 crore for the procurement of over 2.27 crore pieces. This initiative aims to support poorer sections and provide employment to textile workers.
