Months after the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) withdrew its Class 8 Social Science textbook following objections over a chapter on judicial corruption, the council's newly introduced Class 9 Political Science textbook presents the judiciary as an "impartial and independent institution" that safeguards citizens' rights and upholds the Constitution.

The second volume of the textbook had triggered controversy over a section titled “Corruption in the judiciary”, prompting the SC to take suo motu cognisance.

In the revised cover, the Supreme Court is placed at the top, making it the most prominent feature, while Parliament has been moved to the bottom of the design. | Education News
