12-year-old ‘raped’, killed in Bengal’s South 24 Parganas, suspect lynched

KOLKATA: The body of a 12-year-old schoolgirl, who was allegedly raped before being killed, was found in a pond near Surjapur Haat in Baruipur on Sunday morning. Protests by locals snowballed into large-scale arson and violence, with the mob lynching a 26-year-old suspect and brickbatting police and central forces personnel, damaging vehicles, and squatting on roads and railway tracks.
