LONDON: Jordanian authorities intercepted on Sunday two attempts to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics along the eastern front using electronically directed balloons. Border Guard forces thwarted the attempts in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Department, seizing the drugs, according to Jordan News Agency. Smuggling networks have long attempted to exploit Jordan’s geographic location in the heart of the Middle East as a transit point for smuggling drugs that are typically bound for Gulf countries from Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.
