Motorists have received a major reprieve after the High Court in Kiambu issued a conservatory order suspending mandatory annual inspection for private non-commercial vehicles.

The lawyer argues the punitive rules were introduced without public participation and would subject motorists to unconstitutional fees and penalties.

The authority on Sunday said it had notified police not to demand proof of the mandatory inspection certificate from private vehicles during road checks until further notice.
