West Bengal plans tram route linking Dakshineswar and Kalighat temples

West Bengal is set to launch a new tram route connecting the Dakshineswar and Kalighat Kali temples, aiming to boost religious tourism. The state also plans a major tram revival, introducing air-conditioned trams and relocating tracks to the roadside. These eco-friendly trams will run on battery power. Additionally, new routes are planned for Rajarhat-New Town and Saltlake, alongside the addition of electric and CNG buses to the state fleet.
