The 173-year-old Halifax brand is being scrapped and all customer accounts will be changed to Lloyds over time, Lloyds Banking Group says.

Lloyds Banking Group said there is nothing that customers need to do and they will be contacted about the changes.

Lloyds Bank will scrap the Halifax brand after 173 years, it has confirmed today. All Halifax customer accounts will be changed to Lloyds over time.

Lloyds Banking Group said on Wednesday it would rebrand Halifax under its central moniker ending a 173-year high street run.
