Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna described the current state of India-US relations as the weakest in nearly three decades, blaming US President Donald Trump's policies for the downturn. Speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Leadership Summit in Washington, Khanna claimed that tariffs imposed by the Trump administration and its approach towards India had eroded years of trust between the two countries. He also said External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar would agree with his assessment. Khanna further claimed that during a recent visit to China, India's ambassador there told him that an entire generation of trust had been lost because of Trump's policies. However, former Indian envoy to China Pradeep Rawat rejected the claim, saying it was wrong to drag his name into domestic American politics to score political points.
