She sustained "catastrophic injuries" and died two days later, on Wednesday, 10 June, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Pc Turnbull had only joined the police force nine months prior to her death, in September, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. A 73-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been bailed, with police investigations ongoing.
