He made the announcement during a television appearance on Good Morning America on Monday, 29 June. Johnson noted there is no family history of the disease, with his initial symptom being a weakness in his hand. Inspired by an interview with Eric Dane, who passed away from ALS, Johnson contacted Dr Merit Cudkowicz. Dr Cudkowicz is now providing him with experimental treatment, which Johnson believes has altered the trajectory of his battle.
