Animal welfare officers raided her property in August 2024 following a complaint about dog welfare and suspected illegal breeding. Footage from Hope Rescue charity showed the squalid conditions the dogs were living in, with six unfortunately having to be put down due to their poor health. Cooper, who won six Crufts awards in 2016, pleaded guilty to 11 animal welfare offences, including breeding dogs without a licence and causing unnecessary suffering. The 74-year-old received a 12-month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay £10,000 in prosecution costs.
