KABUL/ISLAMABAD -- Afghan government officials said on Monday that Pakistani airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan killed at least 36 people and injured 163 others.

The strikes come a day after an attack in the southern city of Karachi killed three paramilitary troops. There was no immediate response from Afghanistan's ruling Taliban.
