On 13 June, he cancelled a show in San Diego just 45 minutes before he was due to go on stage. “I really shouldn’t have gone to the Haiti game,” said Sir Rod, who went to a World Cup match just a day after cancelling his California show due to illness. “You know, I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left. But the truth is I wasn’t going to let my two sons down.”
