Rescuers were able to pull a baby alive from the rubble of a collapsed building following the devastating Venezuela earthquakes. At least 589 people have been confirmed dead following the twin quakes on Wednesday (24 June). Acting president Delcy Rodriguez said on Friday that at least 2,980 people were injured, while nearly 50,000 are missing. Footage shows rescuers cheering as they save a baby buried beneath the debris. More than 250 buildings collapsed after the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude quakes struck within 39 seconds of each other, with thousands left trapped under rubble.

As pledges of aid pour in from around the world, acting President Delcy Rodríguez has declared a state of emergency.
