A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck west of Caracas, the US Geological Survey said, causing damage, power outages and evacuations as tremors were also felt in Colombia and a tsunami threat was issued for parts of the Caribbean

A 7.2-magnitude earthquake and a 7.5-magnitude were less than a minute apart, said the U.S. Geological Survey. The second earthquake was the largest to hit the country since 1900.
