MANILA: A school shooting in Tacloban that left three students dead and 20 others injured was apparently planned for weeks by two teenage suspects, Philippine police said, as they stepped up security in the city’s educational institutions on Wednesday. The shooting, which took place at the San Jose National High School in the capital of Leyte province on Monday morning, sent shockwaves across the country as no similar incident has been recorded in its recent history.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause. Police said the suspects claimed they were bullied at school.
