Australia's largest chicken meat buyer, Papua New Guinea, suspends Australian poultry and egg imports due to the H5N1 bird flu outbreak, even though Australian authorities say there is no evidence the virus has spread.

The association has cancelled a poultry show planned for July and is urging owners to restrict bird movements and reduce contact with wild birds.

The H5N1 strain has been confirmed in a northern giant petrel, near where the virus was first detected in Western Australia.
