The House on Tuesday could give final passage to a bill aimed at lowering costs for homebuyers and reining in private equity.

The bipartisan legislation was crafted in both chambers and must now pass the House. It seeks to build more homes and prevent large investors from outbidding families.

There’s not much out there for people at the low end of the income spectrum, and those households are more likely to pay at least half their income on rent and utilities.
