The Edmonton Oilers have hired Mike Babcock as coach
The Edmonton Oilers have hired Mike Babcock as head coach, marking his return to the NHL after more than six years.
The Edmonton Oilers hired Mike Babcock as their new coach, replacing fired former coach Kris Knoblauch, the NHL franchise announced Tuesday.
Babcock, who last coached an NHL game in 2019, was lured out of retirement by a chance to coach a team with serious Stanley Cup aspirations.
Why would a supposedly contending team, led the NHL's biggest star, hire someone followed by this sort of black cloud?
