Gujarat: AAP MLA Vasava, 8 others get 7 years in jail for assaulting forest officials, extortion

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaitar Vasava and eight others, including his wife, have been sentenced to seven years in prison by a Rajpipla court. The conviction stems from a November 2023 incident where forest officials were allegedly assaulted and extorted. The dispute arose after officials removed crops grown on government land. Vasava reportedly threatened the officials and fired a shot in the air during a confrontation at his residence.
