NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across several states on Wednesday as the southwest monsoon continues to strengthen and advance. Heavy rain is likely in parts of Maharashtra, the Northeast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected in several regions.
