Firefighters said Sunday they are making progress in fighting a sprawling warehouse blaze which ignited Wednesday east of downtown Los Angeles.

Smoke concerns are growing as firefighters continue battling a massive cold storage warehouse fire in Boyle Heights that officials say remains highly complex.

“The smell of smoke has reached most of the city,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement as efforts to extinguish the blaze continued.

The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon and has been contained within the warehouse, but continues to burn, sending up fumes that smell of burning plastic.
