A group of primary school children in Japan were forced to balance on a ledge as they waited to be rescued from their burning school. Eyewitness footage taken on Friday (19 June) shows students standing on the overhang, as thick smoke poured from the windows of Takinogawa Daisan Elementary School in Tokyo. Nearly 300 pupils and staff had to be evacuated. At least 11 people were injured, some due to smoke inhalation, according to Japanese media reports. The injured were taken to a local hospital. Officials confirmed that all individuals were accounted for.
