The United States Department of Justice has announced the arrest and prosecution of 15 individuals, including 11 undocumented immigrants and four US citizens, in connection with an alleged benefits fraud scheme involving more than $1.4million in taxpayer funds in Massachusetts. According to the Justice Department, the defendants are accused of fraudulently obtaining public assistance through various programmes, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), MassHealth, Social Security disability benefits and unemployment benefits.
