Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Tuesday that negotiations concerning Lebanon were being conducted independently by the Lebanese state and were not tied to any external agreements. Speaking to a delegation of Maronite bishops from the diaspora, Aoun said Lebanon had received assurances that its course in ongoing negotiations would remain independent. “We are certainly in favor of a ceasefire and welcome the efforts of any country that helps achieve it, including Iran,” he said.

Lebanon has not been informed of the terms or the ceasefire timing of the new US-Iran agreement, an official source told AFP on Monday on condition of anonymity.
