Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday directed the Delhi Development Authority and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board to issue tenders for the rehabilitation of five jhuggi-jhopri (JJ) clusters within 45 days. The announcement came under a new scheme — the Delhi Slum and JJ Cluster Rehabilitation and Relocation Policy, 2026, which replaces the 2015 policy and expands the scheme’s coverage. Mr. Shah said the new policy will benefit four lakh families. He asked the Delhi government to notify it at the earliest.
