The arrests followed a Court of Appeal ruling on Monday that upheld the ban of Palestine Action as a terror group, deeming it lawful. This decision overturned a previous High Court judgment from February which had ruled the proscription unlawful. The proscription makes membership of or support for Palestine Action a criminal offence, carrying a potential sentence of up to 14 years in prison. Since Palestine Action was proscribed, the Met Police have arrested more than 3,000 individuals for suspected support of the group.
