Jordan Staal, at 37, has etched his name in NHL history, clinching the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Hurricanes' playoff MVP. His stellar performance, including a record-tying streak of scoring in five consecutive Stanley Cup Final games, led Carolina to their first championship since 2006. Staal is tied for 22nd in postseason scoring but has six goals in the final on top of his usual shutdown role for the Hurricanes.

The 37-year-old just became the oldest player ever awarded the Conn Smythe.

"It's amazing, this is something I've been going after since we got the first one," said Staal, who was traded to Carolina in June 2012.
