Swiss voters were set to reject a proposal to cap the country’s population at 10 million in a referendum held on Sunday, according to preliminary projections by national broadcaster SRF.

The Swiss will go to the polls on Sunday to vote on whether to back a referendum that would see its population capped at 10 million.

The referendum is proposing a a limit of 10 million people until 2050 and has divided the country, being dubbed by some as a "Swiss Brexit".
