Ghana player Thomas Partey, who is facing trial in Britain on rape charges, has been denied a visa to enter Canada to play in the World Cup, FIFA said on Friday.

While FIFA confirmed the visa denial, it did not immediately provide detailed reasons for the Canadian authorities’ decision.

Partey is due to stand trial in the United Kingdom on seven charges of rape and one of sexual assault. He denies the allegations
