Ngaba was found guilty last month at Birmingham Crown Court, where jurors heard that Eliza sustained severe injuries, including violent shaking and a skull-shattering impact, in November 2019, leading to her death from an infection in August 2022. Ngaba's actions were described by prosecutor Lisa Hancox as "callous and uncaring”, and it was noted that she deliberately delayed seeking medical help for Eliza and attempted to conceal her involvement by lying to medics and police. This murder conviction followed a previous 14-year jail sentence Ngaba received in 2021 for wounding in connection with the same incident, with the time served being subtracted from her current minimum term. Prosecution and police highlighted Ngaba's "sustained and aggressive assault" on a defenceless infant, her lack of remorse, and the "remarkable" care provided by Eliza's foster parents, who brought love and happiness into her short life.
