The Embassy of India in Oman reported an "incident" involving a vessel off Oman's Shinas port on June 11 and said it is closely coordinating with local authorities to monitor the situation. In a post on X, the Embassy stated that crew members from MT Jalveer, a Guinea-Bissau-flagged tanker, were being evacuated to Shinas port with assistance from the Royal Navy of Oman. The Embassy said, “We have learnt of an incident involving a vessel off Shinas port of Oman, earlier today. We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the local authorities for further details. Evacuation of crew from MT Jalveer to Shinas port is being coordinated with assistance from Royal Navy of Oman, and shall soon be completed.”

The fire was reported by the crew of MT Marivex, which was not carrying any cargo, at 1.30 pm, Opesh Kumar Sharma, director in the shipping ministry, told a media briefing. |…

Palau-flagged MT Marivex was sanctioned by US in December 2025. It refused to comply with multiple warnings issued by US Central Command, currently blockading Iran.
