US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States had successfully helped move more than 100 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a previously undisclosed military operation, while simultaneously warning that Iran would face a severe US attack if ongoing efforts to secure a peace agreement fail.

Donald Trump brought up the oil right after a report showed inflation surging.

Trump's comments come after Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Tuesday that oil exports through Hormuz are "rising very meaningfully" without elaborating further.
